Kapalua translates to “embracing the sea,” and is the ideal spot for both golfers and beachgoers who prefer a quieter, more elegant side to island life. Kapalua is one of the island’s most unique locations, an understated region that houses some of the world’s most famous golf courses, such as the renowned Plantation Course (which hosts the PGA Tournament of Champions) and Bay Course. These courses are unbeatable for those looking to hone or practice their golf game, but that’s not all Kapalua has to offer. There are also some truly beautiful hidden gems along the shore, such as the famed Kapalua Bay, Honolua Bay, and Fleming Beach. There’s also the area of Napili, right on the water and surrounded by beautiful, vacation-rentable condominiums: Napili Shores, Hale Napili, Napili Sunset, and Napili Point. These are wonderful parts of the area, which is also home to the island’s Ritz-Carlton hotel. Kapalua is a perfect, understated part of Maui, embodying the more luxurious side of the island and certainly having something special for everyone.
